SZ Bay Checkpoint pilots biometric border crossing
    2024-11-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

An officer helps a passenger use a newly introduced card-free express border inspection channel at the Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint yesterday. The checkpoint and the Gongbei Checkpoint in Zhuhai became the first two checkpoints in the country to implement a pilot express channel program yesterday. Under the program, those traveling frequently between the mainland and Hong Kong or Macao for personal reasons no longer need to present travel documents at border checks, provided they allow border inspectors to collect and verify their facial profile, fingerprints, and other personal information. Eligible travelers include those aged 14 or above, mainland residents with valid documents for multiple entries into Hong Kong or Macao, and Hong Kong and Macao residents holding valid permits for entering the mainland.
