
THE legendary stand-up comedian Joe Wong, known as Huang Xi in China, will perform his new English comedy show, “Out of Place 2,” at the Fenghua Grand Theater in Shekou, Nanshan District on Dec. 1. This will also mark the debut of the show in Shenzhen. In this comedy show, he will share his awkwardness as a global citizen. What about Wong’s solution? Born in Northeast China’s Jilin Province, Wong is a Chinese-American biochemist-turned-comedian who established a name for himself in the U.S. in the 2000s. His passion for making people laugh landed him spots on “The Late Show With David Letterman,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” and “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.” In 2010, he was invited as the first Asian to perform a talk show at the White House. His journey from China to the U.S., and back again, has been filled with humor and sharp wit.
