    2024-11-28  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AN exhibition honoring the late master painter Wu Guanzhong (1919-2010) is being held at Q-Plex Space in OCT, Nanshan District.

Revered alongside esteemed Chinese-French artists Zao Wou-ki (1920-2013) and Chu Teh-chun (1920-2014) as the “three musketeers” of modern Chinese art, Wu’s profound artistic legacy is being celebrated through this remarkable showcase.

Wu’s unwavering dedication and artistic vision have solidified him as a master artist cherished both in China and globally. His print art serves as a poignant tribute marking the 60th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations, highlighting the enduring artistic exchanges between China and France while paying homage to this legendary figure.

Visitors to the exhibition are invited to immerse themselves in a tapestry of cultural and artistic exchanges spanning centuries between the two nations, beautifully depicted through Wu’s exquisite artworks.

The centerpiece of the exhibition, “Swallows Fly and Fish Leap,” not only captures the essence of Wu’s artistic spirit but also resonates with the energy and aspirations of the vibrant city of Shenzhen.

Hailing from Yixing, Jiangsu Province, Wu is recognized as an exceptional contemporary Chinese painter, oil artist, and art educator. His unique fusion of Chinese and Western artistic elements has defined his signature style and contributed to his profound influence in modern Chinese painting.

Throughout his illustrious career, Wu pioneered groundbreaking artistic theories and practices, connecting art with the collective emotions of society. His exploration of Eastern and Western artistic harmony has set the stage for transformative shifts in contemporary Chinese art.

This meticulously curated exhibition showcases a selection of Wu’s masterpieces, including iconic works like “The Great Wall” and the deeply personal “Lion Grove.” Notably, it features the renowned piece “Two Swallows” from the Hong Kong Museum of Art, adding to the richness and diversity of Wu’s artistic repertoire.
