    2024-12-06  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Guangdong Provincial Government has set up a team to investigate the cause of a cave-in at a railway construction site in Shenzhen, in which 13 workers went missing.

The accident occurred around 11 p.m. Wednesday at a construction site for a section of the Shenzhen-Jiangmen High-speed Railway on Zhoushi Road in Hangcheng Subdistrict, Bao’an District, according to an announcement from the district’s emergency department Thursday.

By press time Thursday, the workers remained missing.

Guangdong Party chief Huang Kunming and Governor Wang Weizhong have rushed to the scene to coordinate rescue efforts.

The Ministry of Emergency Management has sent a work team to Shenzhen to guide rescue efforts, according to Xinhua News Agency.

Nearby residents have been evacuated, and temporary traffic controls have been implemented around the site.

Local fire and rescue teams, including 48 vehicles and 198 personnel, were on site for rescue and emergency response operations.
