THE one-year countdown to the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG) officially began Sunday evening with the 11th Guangdong Provincial Art Performance for Persons with Disabilities at the Guangdong Arts Theater in Guangzhou. The 12th NGD and the 9th NSOG will be held about two weeks after the 15th National Games, which will take place from Nov. 9 to 21, 2025. These national games will be co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao for the first time. The NGD and NSOG will feature sports events in four categories for athletes with physical, intellectual, visual, or hearing disabilities. Of the 46 competition events, Guangdong will host 34, Hong Kong four, and Macao two. Shenzhen will host the events of swimming, cycling, archery, marathons, darts, and badminton. The opening ceremony will take place in Guangzhou on Dec. 8, 2025 and the closing ceremony in Shenzhen on Dec. 15, 2025. (Liu Yangyang) |
