A PROMOTIONAL event showcasing the food and intangible cultural heritage products of Shenzhen and Chaozhou, located in eastern Guangdong, was held at INJOY Mall in Meilin Subdistrict, Futian District, from Friday to Sunday.

Co-organized by the Futian District and Chaozhou’s Xiangqiao District governments, the event featured famous Chaoshan delicacies, music performances, and intangible cultural heritage items such as the Yingge Dance. Several technology and artificial intelligence (AI) companies from Shenzhen also participated, showcasing their latest products. The event served as a platform to foster cultural and trade cooperation between the two districts.

The food and beverage offerings from Chaozhou drew large crowds, with visitors eager to taste and purchase authentic Chaozhou snacks, herbs, and drinks. Additionally, 10 local food and beverage companies from Meilin set up booths, offering a taste of Meilin’s unique delicacies. “This is a Chaoshan specialty, and it represents the unique flavors of our region,” shared a Chaozhou vendor selling dried fruits with the Shenzhen Daily.

Many attendees expressed excitement at experiencing the Chaoshan flavors, enjoying the performances, and discovering the rich cultural heritage on display. “We are delighted to showcase the culinary delights and intangible cultural heritage from Chaozhou and Shenzhen, particularly the food and culture from Meilin. We aim for visitors to savor not only the delectable tastes but also appreciate the cultural and technological exhibits,” stated Wang Hanwei, deputy secretary of Party Work Committee of Meilin Subdistrict and director of Meilin Subdistrict Office.

To strengthen cooperation between Futian and Xiangqiao, four communities in Meilin signed strategic cooperation agreements with two professional institutions in Chaozhou, focusing on the protection and promotion of intangible cultural heritage. Several enterprises from both districts have also expressed interest in procurement cooperation.
