THIS December, the Shenzhen International Urban Furniture Art Fair is taking place at C Future City in Futian District, presenting residents with a unique fusion of art and urban life. Launched Dec. 6, the fair is centered around the theme of “haang haang gaai” (walking the street), capturing the essence of Shenzhen’s dynamic street culture through art. Featuring 28 innovative works from 22 artists, the fair has transformed the streets around the shopping mall into a vibrant gallery. Inspired by Cantonese expressions like “haang haang gaai” (strolling), “tai hei” (watching films), and “sihk faan” (dining), the exhibition invites visitors to immerse themselves in the city’s lively atmosphere while exploring the intersection of design and daily life. The event, which offers more than just static installations, includes interactive elements like “street-side murals” and digital art spaces that engage visitors in playful yet thought-provoking ways. Curated by prominent artists and scholars like Zhou Zhichen and Lu Liuqing, this fair is a celebration of urban aesthetics and creative innovation.
