Fireworks blaze across Macao’s sky
    2024-12-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A spectacular fireworks display illuminates the sky above the Sai Van Bridge in Macao yesterday, presented by the Macao Government Tourism Office to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR). In addition to the 15-minute show, an 84-night light show, which started Dec. 20, is being staged throughout the SAR. Since its return to the motherland Dec. 20, 1999, Macao has witnessed rapid socioeconomic growth and significant improvements in the living standards of residents. According to official figures, Macao’s GDP soared from 51.9 billion Macao patacas in 1999 (US$643 million based on the 1999 average exchange rate) to 379.5 billion Macao patacas (US$47 billion) in 2023.   Liu Xudong
