THE Maozhou River Left Bank Science and Technology Park received an accolade in the economic feasibility category at the recently announced 2024 International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) AAPME Awards.

The IFLA is a leading global landscape architecture organization accredited by UNESCO. It represents associations from 80 countries across multiple continents. This year, out of 338 submissions, 149 outstanding projects were selected, with distinctions including 14 top awards, 17 excellent recognitions, and 118 honorable mentions.

Originally a logistics area, the Left Bank Science and Technology Park has been transformed into a hub connected to the vibrant Guangming Science City. By blending innovative technology with industrial resources, it has evolved into a smart park for industrial advancement.

Spanning 78,627 square meters, the park boasts various amenities such as exhibition halls, cafes, and leisure spaces that offer a unique retreat for visitors. The centerpiece, the Guangming Science City Exhibition Hall, showcases the area’s breakthroughs in planning and research.

Adding to its charm, a distinctive V-shaped bridge elegantly spans the river, enhancing connectivity between the river’s two banks while integrating the cityscape with the surrounding natural landscapes.

Situated along the Maozhou River, a vital waterway in Shenzhen that meanders through Bao’an and Guangming districts, the Left Bank Science and Technology Park serves as a significant public hub along the expansive Maozhou River greenway project.

Transformed in 2020 from a forgotten locale into a vibrant exhibition venue and a science and technology-themed urban park, it offers a fresh narrative blending modern advancements with the allure of nature, charting a new course for sustainable urban development in the region.(Windy Shao)
