JOHN JAKOBSEN, chief strategic portfolio development officer at Merlin Entertainments, operator of the Legoland Shenzhen Resort, visited the theme park’s construction site in Dapeng New Area last week alongside his team.

“The construction has been progressing positively, brick by brick, with a strong focus on creating a safe and high-quality experience filled with creativity and imagination for everyone. Construction of the themed areas within the park is nearing completion in terms of civil construction,” he said.

The signature themed area, Legoland Creative World, has seen positive progress. The main structure in this zone, the largest building in the park, has entered the topping-out phase of construction, Jakobsen said.

Dapeng New Area is accelerating the construction of more than 20 supporting projects with a total investment of 30 billion yuan (US$4.09 billion).

Designed for families with children aged 2 to 12, the resort will be the world’s largest Legoland upon completion.
