Usher in Lunar New Year with splendid lanterns in GZ
    2025-01-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE 2025 Greater Bay Area Lantern Festival, featuring thousands of dazzling lanterns, will be held at Nansha Tianhou Palace, Puzhou Garden, and Binhai Park in Guangzhou tomorrow.

Running through March 30 and covering an area of 58 hectares, this festival is reportedly the largest and longest-running super lantern festival in the country. Combining modern technologies and interactive light art, it presents a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, as well as local and international elements, to visitors.

In addition, the festival offers a variety of vibrant activities, including market stalls, parades, performances, and daily prize draws. It is expected to attract millions of visitors and generate over a billion impressions.

Another celebration, the Guangzhou Spring Festival Lantern Show, opened Friday at Yuexiu Park in Yuexiu District. The event features 75 grand light installations, including a stunning 128-meter-long koi fish adorned with flowers and light decorations.

When illuminated, the lantern set vividly depicts the koi fish leaping through the dragon’s gate, symbolizing success and prosperity.

At the park’s main entrance, visitors are greeted by a magnificent lantern installation of a phoenix crown, standing over seven stories tall.

The festival has set up 10 themed areas across Yuexiu Park, with recommended entry points at the main entrance, north gate, and Yitai Gate. The lantern show at Yuexiu Park will run through Feb. 16.
