Multinational firms AS of now, Shenzhen has certified a total of 147 regional headquarters of multinational companies. According to official statistics, the city ranked among the top in the country in terms of foreign capital use from January to November of 2024, with over 8,200 newly established foreign-invested enterprises. Both figures placed Shenzhen among the top in China. AI application SHENZHEN ranked second in the country for AI application scenario innovation in 2024, according to a list of the top 10 cities in China in the sector, which was unveiled at the 2024 National Artificial Intelligence Application Scenario Innovation Challenge Finals held in Shenzhen on Saturday. Beijing ranked first and Shanghai ranked third. Elevator renovation A TOTAL of 100 old elevators in Shenzhen’s residential buildings have been renovated, supported by ultra-long-term special treasury bonds, the most in Guangdong Province. Under the equipment renewal initiative, which will continue this year, each elevator requiring renewal can receive a subsidy of 150,000 yuan (US$20,500). Currently, there are 194,000 elevators in use in the city, of which 44,000 have been in operation for more than 15 years. Approximately 180,000 of these are used in residential estates. Road traffic ALL non-Shenzhen-registered passenger vehicles will be allowed to travel on Shenzhen’s roads at all times from Jan. 20 to Feb. 12, 2025, according to local traffic police. Non-local vehicle restrictions will be reinstated Feb. 13. These restrictions prohibit non-local vehicles from traveling on Shenzhen’s urban roads on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Research vessel THE research vessel Shen Kuo will be docked at the Shekou Cruise Home Port until Feb. 16. The ship is named after Shen Kuo, an eminent scientist of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). It is China’s first twin-hull scientific research vessel built with private funds. Since 2018, the vessel has completed more than 30 oceanic research missions. It has visited the Mariana Trench, the world’s deepest trench, several times to conduct deep-sea exploration missions. |
