GUANGDONG Province hosts its annual high-quality development conference in Guangzhou today, the first working day following the Spring Festival holiday.

This year marks the third consecutive edition of this event, which aims to galvanize efforts across the province toward achieving high-quality development.

Under the theme “Building a Modern Industrial System,” this year’s conference will highlight Guangdong’s commitment to harnessing its strong industrial foundation and technological expertise to drive modernization and foster sustainable, innovative growth.

The event kicks off with a plenary session in the morning, which will be live-streamed, followed by afternoon group discussions on key topics. These include the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, the development of strategic emerging and future industries, the implementation of the “High-Quality Development Project for Guangdong’s Counties, Towns, and Villages,” and the advancement of financial and modern service industries. Additionally, discussions will focus on boosting foreign trade, investment, outsourcing, outbound economic cooperation, and overseas talent attraction.

As a national leader in building a modern industrial system, Guangdong has achieved remarkable progress. In 2024, the province’s GDP exceeded 14 trillion yuan (US$1.93 trillion), maintaining its position as the top-performing region in China for the 36th consecutive year. It is also home to eight trillion-yuan-level industrial clusters and ranks first in regional innovation capacity for eight years running.
