Lantern Festival: A blend of culture and fun
    2025-02-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Senri Araki, a Japanese student at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, attempts to solve a lantern riddle during a lantern riddle-guessing event celebrating the Lantern Festival at the Shenzhen Library in Futian District yesterday. The Lantern Festival, which falls on Wednesday this year, is a Chinese traditional festival celebrated on the 15th day of the first lunar month. It marks the final day of the traditional Chinese New Year celebrations. Eating yuanxiao, the sweet dumplings made of glutinous rice flour, guessing lantern riddles, and enjoying dragon and lion dances are several common and essential folk customs of the festival.
