US entrepreneur applauds SZ’s innovation scene

SHENZHEN’S dynamic business environment has proven to be fertile ground for tech innovation and an ideal location for starting a business, especially within the tech sector.

Raj Oswal — a U.S. entrepreneur who runs a high-tech firm focused on spatial computing and VR technology in the bustling education landscape in Shenzhen — made the remarks on the sidelines of the 2025 Kun Peng · Spring Gathering — Economic and Trade Seminar for Foreign Institutions in China with Shenzhen @Tencent Inno-Tech Event, held at the Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning on Friday.

“Efficiency is probably the first thing that comes to my mind,” said Oswal when asked to share his entrepreneurial journey in Shenzhen.

The founder of Shekou-based Interface (Shenzhen) Technology Co. said that he had never planned to establish a company in China when he first arrived in Shenzhen in 2019 — a trip to explore the Chinese market for a San Francisco-headquartered disruptive technology company.

During that visit, he met numerous tech professionals that were eager to explore creative ways of working together. “There’s a lot of talent, there’s a lot of tech,” remarked the Californian, who boasts three decades of expertise in go-to-market strategies for disruptive technologies.

He emphasized Shenzhen’s exceptional combination of entrepreneurial spirit, good access to skilled professionals, and advanced technology fosters a rapid and effective business environment, even for startups.

Oswal attributed part of his success to the city government’s support of entrepreneurial ventures. “I feel lucky to be part of the city in which I see a lot of future growth potential, and the Friday event was very inspiring itself,” Oswal said.
