THE first phase of the Greenway Around the Shenzhen Reservoir, which opened recently, connects Taojin Mountain Greenway and the Cuihu Culture and Sports Park. It spans 7.5 kilometers. The following are some main destinations along the greenway. Dawang Bridge The white bridge features a pedestrian-vehicle separation design, with vehicles passing underneath and a dedicated walkway and bicycle lane on the bridge. Compared to other elevated walkways, its 6.5-meter width provides a spacious, neighborhood-like feel. Additionally, the bridge is designed to be more user-friendly by prohibiting electric bicycles, allowing pedestrians to stroll with ease and peace of mind. Taojin Mountain Greenway Crossing Dawang Bridge leads visitors to the east entrance of the Taojin Mountain Greenway. While the name “Taojinshan” (which means “Gold Mountain” in Chinese) might suggest riches, the true treasures here are the lush green mountains and clear waters. The all-encompassing greenery is incredibly soothing and pleasing to the eye. It is currently the longest and most scenic section of the Greenway Around the Shenzhen Reservoir. Stretching approximately 6 kilometers, the trail features significant elevation changes. At its highest point, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and water. In addition to being perfect for a relaxing spring walk, the greenway is also ideal for cycling and running. Cuihu Cultural and Sports Park Walking to the south entrance of Taojin Mountain brings visitors to the Cuihu Cultural and Sports Park. The park features an 800-meter elevated walkway that connects seamlessly with Taojin Mountain, offering opportunities for both cycling and jogging. Within the park, there is a beaver-themed playground equipped with various facilities for children to enjoy. The overall plan for the Greenway Around the Shenzhen Reservoir spans approximately 30 kilometers. In addition to the destinations mentioned above, the loop greenway will eventually connect with Donghu Park, Wutong Greenway, and the countryside walking trail at Dawangcun, according to the plan. Currently, only the first phase has been completed. Construction will continue to link Dawang Bridge with Wutong Greenway, as well as Cuihu Cultural and Sports Park with Donghu Park, in the coming phases.
