Editor’s note: Shenzhen is composed of nine administrative districts, one new area, and the Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone in Shanwei. While all 11 areas share Shenzhen’s defining spirit of innovation, each has its own unique characteristics. This page delves into the latest advancements in Pingshan District, a vibrant area in northeastern Shenzhen. An emerging hub for various industries, Pingshan stands out not only for its economic vitality but also for its rich cultural heritage and vast green spaces, making it an appealing destination for entrepreneurs and tourists alike. THE Shenzhen Natural History Museum, currently under construction in Pingshan District, has been acknowledged as an exemplary project for noise pollution prevention in the city in 2024. At the construction site, noise levels have been measured at around 59.5 decibels, significantly lower than those at other construction sites. Li Jinxiang, an engineer on the project, explained that they employed 3D simulation analysis to generate data on components such as steel columns, steel beams, and steel trusses. Then, these components were manufactured in factories rather than being welded and cut on-site, effectively reducing disruptive noise. Currently, there are 169 construction sites in Shenzhen that utilize this approach, leading to a noticeable decrease in complaints from residents. The Shenzhen Natural History Museum, situated in the Yanzi Lake area of Pingshan District, spans 42,000 square meters, with a total construction area of 105,300 square meters. Upon its expected completion in late 2025, the museum will be the first large-scale, comprehensive natural history museum in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and southern China.(Cao Zhen) |
