
BYD unveiled its Super e-Platform at its headquarters in Shenzhen yesterday, which charges electric vehicle (EV) batteries twice as fast as Tesla’s world-acclaimed Superchargers. The Super e-Platform is capable of supplying up to 1,000 kW to compatible EVs, with BYD claiming that it can recharge batteries as quickly as fueling a conventional gasoline-powered vehicle. The new chargers can theoretically fill a 100 kWh battery in just 10 minutes, conveniently outperforming the fastest public chargers currently delivering up to 500 kW, including Tesla’s V4 Superchargers.
