TWO technologies developed by Shenzhen-based companies were included on the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s latest list of top applications of artificial intelligence in sports. Shenzhen Xinciyuan Vision Culture and Tourism Technology Co. Ltd. made the list for its innovative application of virtual reality (VR) technology in digital sports education, and Shenzhen Wake Up Technology Co. Ltd. was included for its sports smartwatch. These applications of AI in sports are exemplars of technological innovations that have the potential to lead and promote the in-depth development of AI in sports, according to the ministry. Xinciyuan developed a cyber sports space for Peking University — the first of its kind in China when it opened last June. Integrating acoustic optoelectronics, motion detection, sports algorithms, perception interaction, smart wearables, and AI, the company transformed the university’s traditional sports gymnasium into a multifunctional, immersive space. According to Xinciyuan, this digital gym provides students with a new type of experience and represents a new direction in digital sports. Users of Wake Up Technology’s smartwatch can use a health management app to access videos hosted by professional fitness coaches and generate personalized fitness plans. The app can also conduct an in-depth analysis of users’ fitness needs, scientifically categorize different fitness requirements, reduce dependence on fitness equipment, and design scientific fitness content for home use.
