THE 2025 International Ice Hockey Federation Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division I Group A kicked off Sunday at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Center, marking the tournament’s return to the city after 2023.

Six teams — France, Denmark, the Netherlands, Austria, Slovakia, and host China — are competing in a round-robin format over five days.

France opened strong with an 8-3 win over the Netherlands, followed by Austria’s 3-0 victory against Denmark on the opening day. China fell 0-4 to Slovakia, missing a chance at a strong start.
