Shenzhen’s economy got off to a strong start in the first quarter of 2025, underpinned by solid growth in high-tech industrial output. Official data released by the city’s statistics bureau yeterday show that Shenzhen’s GDP grew to 895.05 billion yuan (US$122.62 billion) from January to March, an increase of 5.2% year on year. During the period, the city saw the establishment of 2,342 new foreign-invested firms, marking a year-on-year increase of 23.4%. These newly established foreign-invested companies accounted for 18.6% of the national total.
