HIGH-TECH innovation is transforming construction at the Phase III section of the Shenzhen Outer Ring Expressway. In the Tiantoushan Tunnel Cluster, cutting-edge automation has reduced manpower needs from over 20 workers to just four, while boosting production efficiency by up to 80%.

The project, built by China Railway 11th Bureau Group Co., features smart laser cutters, automated welding machines, and intelligent concrete-lining vehicles.

Robotic arms further enhance precision in cutting and welding, raising both quality and speed. Meanwhile, AI and big data tools monitor construction safety and performance, helping the team manage risks and maintain high standards.

This shift toward smart construction marks a major step in Shenzhen’s infrastructure development and points to the future of urban building worldwide.
