May Yeung TSINGHUA Shenzhen International Graduate School (Tsinghua SIGS) achieved notable success at Tsinghua University’s 68th “Ma Yuehan Cup” track and field meet, securing five gold medals and two overall championships. The annual event concluded on the afternoon of April 27 at the university’s east athletic field. Chang Yichen, a master’s student in information and functional materials, won gold in the men’s Group A high jump. He also placed fourth in the 8x5 mixed basketball event. Li Xueli, an architecture master’s student, took second place in the women’s Group A all-around competition. She was also part of the women’s Group A 4x100-meter relay team that finished fifth and the 4x400-meter relay team that took second. Han Yujie, an electrical engineering and automation graduate student, claimed first place in the women’s Group A 800 meters. She also finished fifth in the women’s Group A long jump, second in the women’s Group A 4x400-meter relay, and fourth in the mixed Group A shuttle relay. Wang Wanyue, an electronic information (interactive media design and technology) master’s student, won gold in the women’s Group A high jump. Her other results include fifth place in the women’s Group A shot put, as well as fourth in the 8x5 mixed basketball. Wang Siyao, a data science and information technology master’s student, earned third place in the men’s Group A standing long jump. He also took second in both the men’s Group A 100 and 200 meters, fourth in the men’s Group A 4x100-meter relay, and third in the men’s Group A 4x400-meter relay. Wang Haohua, a data science and information technology master’s student, won first place in the women’s Group A 100-meter hurdles. The track meet featured 39 events, including six group competitions, with a total of 2,669 participants (1,174 in Group A and 1,495 in Group B). The 60-meter shuttle relay involving 20 participants was the most popular team event. Bai Benfeng, deputy Party chief and vice president of Tsinghua University, stated that Tsinghua has a proud tradition of valuing sports. Over its 114-year history, the university has accumulated a rich body of experience in sports education philosophy and practice, forming a distinctive Tsinghua approach. |
