Ballet gala

As the opening performance of the ICIF Art Festival, which runs from May to July, “The Bolshoi Ballet Gala” presents a spectacular showcase of exceptional technique and profound artistic heritage through excerpts from classic ballets. Spanning styles from romanticism to realism and from classical to modern, the featured works reveal the diverse allure of ballet.

The program includes 11 ballet pieces, featuring scenes from renowned classics such as “Sleeping Beauty,” “The Flames of Paris,” and “Swan Lake.” The Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra (SZSO) will perform alongside the Bolshoi Theater Ballet Company from Moscow.

‘Sunset Boulevard’

Set in Hollywood in 1949, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical masterpiece follows forgotten silent film star Norma Desmond, who longs to return to the silver screen. Holed up in her decaying mansion on Sunset Boulevard, Desmond lures handsome, struggling screenwriter Joe Gillis into her orbit, hoping he will pen a screenplay for her grand comeback. However, as their relationship turns intimate and Desmond’s delusions deepen, their story spirals toward a tragic and violent end.

‘Nomadic’

Modern dance “Nomadic” by Hu Shenyuan returns to stage in Guangming, redefining life through collective portraits performed by Shenzhen Contemporary Dance Troupe.

While maintaining the soul of Mongolian music, Hu has transformed the performance with a new choreographic structure and stage visuals, transcending it from a monologue of life to a collective portrait of the era.
