Beijing to host humanoid robot games
    2025-05-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

BEIJING Beijing will host the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Sports Games from Aug. 15 to 17, marking another milestone in robotic sports following the world’s first humanoid robot half-marathon held in April, announced Beijing municipal officials Wednesday.

The event will take place at two iconic Olympic venues — the Bird’s Nest (National Stadium) and the Ice Ribbon (National Speed Skating Oval). Competition categories and rules were jointly designed by local sports associations, athletes, and robotics experts, according to State media.

Featuring 11 sporting events, including track and field, gymnastics, and football, the games will also showcase solo and group dance performances alongside six work skill challenges, such as hotel cleaning and workshop logistics.

Zhang Hua of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports said the event aims to highlight advancements in robotics and future industry trends. This follows April’s historic humanoid robot half-marathon in Beijing’s E-Town, where 20 teams competed.

Coinciding with the games, the 2025 World Robot Conference (WRC) will run from Aug. 8 to 12, celebrating its 10th anniversary.

Chen Ying, a representative from the host Chinese Institute of Electronics, emphasized this year’s focus on humanoid robot applications and emerging industry trends.

The conference will break records, with over 200 participating enterprises and nearly 100 new robotic products set to debut.(Xinhua)
