AN array of cutting-edge technologies and products from 60 Shenzhen-based enterprises, along with intangible cultural heritage items and the original Shenzhen-produced dance drama “Wing Chun,” will be presented during the “Shenzhen Week” event, which opens today at the China Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan.

Over three days, Shenzhen’s 165-square-meter hall at the China Pavilion will showcase its technological strengths, innovation capacity, and livable, business-friendly environment.

Themed “A Day in a Future Shenzhen Community,” these exhibits will immerse visitors in green energy, smart living, intelligent health care, and innovative connectivity.

The “Smart Park” zone highlights Shenzhen’s identity as a “City of a Thousand Parks.”

The “Streetscape Zone” displays a three-dimensional transportation network composed of drones, new energy vehicles, and smart folding bikes. The “Ecological Camping Zone” merges portable gear like solar-powered backpacks, solid-state batteries, and smart outdoor devices with natural landscapes.

The opening ceremony will also feature segments of the Shenzhen-produced original dance drama “Wing Chun” and a fashion show featuring clothes made with gambiered Guangdong silk, or Xiangyun Sha. The silk, as a national intangible cultural heritage from the Lingnan area, has a history of more than 1,000 years. Dyed with natural plant dyes, the hand-made silk can protect skin from sun radiation and is easy to clean and dry.

Traditional elegant gatherings such as Tang-style tea brewing and Song-style tea dotting will run throughout the event, and creative interactions between robots from technology firms and intangible cultural heritage performances will also be featured.

This afternoon, the Shenzhen Municipal Government will host the “Better Life, Co-Creation by Shenzhen and Osaka Innovation Collaboration Conference” at the Osaka Imperial Hotel. Nearly 150 Chinese and Japanese government and business representatives will discuss business environments, industrial partnerships, and cultural-tourism cooperation.

Shenzhen will showcase its appeal as a prime investment destination, while corporate representatives from firms such as Panasonic and UBTECH will share innovation insights and explore collaborative opportunities to bridge ties between the two cities.

To commemorate the 15th anniversary of Shenzhen and Osaka’s sister-city relationship and promote cultural exchanges between China and Japan, the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra will present a special gift during the opening ceremony of “Shenzhen Week” — a classical vinyl album of Mahler’s Symphonies and a tribute album dedicated to the Osaka Expo — as a gesture of friendship to Osaka and the Expo.
