Centered on the theme “Digital Civilization · Innovation · Future,” the museum emphasizes communication technology and comprises seven major zones: Permanent Exhibition Area, Science Cinema Zone, Innovation Practice Zone, Science & Technology Exchange Zone, Public Service Zone, Business Management Zone, and Outdoor Science Zone. Spread across five floors, the museum offers a rich blend of immersive digital experiences and educational exhibits: 1/F: Science Film Experience Zone features 3D/4D and IMAX theaters, XR virtual filming, and an AI robot restaurant. 2/F: Prelude Hall “Hello, World!” explores the evolution of digital civilization and Shenzhen’s pivotal role, reflecting on humanity’s relationship with the digital age. 3/F: “Wonderful Life” exhibition highlights digital technologies transforming daily living, from smart travel to AI-powered homes. 4/F: “Smart Industry” showcases Shenzhen’s leading edge in intelligent manufacturing, biomedicine, new energy, and more, highlighting its significance in China’s innovation ecosystem. 5/F: “Origin of the Universe” delves into cosmic evolution, quantum science, genetics, and the origins of life. The museum also offers dynamic science education programs focused on AI, life sciences, aerospace, and more. In partnership with schools and through immersive digital environments, it inspires youth to engage deeply with science, promoting creativity and integration of education, technology, and talent development. Tickets and visiting information Tickets for visits three days ahead release daily at 8 p.m. (e.g., tickets for May 4 release on May 1). While public areas on floors 1 and 2 are free, reservations through the museum’s official WeChat account are required for exhibition halls. Opening hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Getting there Metro: Line 6 to Guangming Station (光明站), Exit D Bus: No. B989 to Guangming Metro Station stop (光明地铁站) Special shuttle services: Science & Technology Museum Food Holiday Line (weekends/holidays, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., 4:30-6 p.m.) runs between the museum and OCT Farm. Science & Technology Museum-Hongqiao Park Line (weekends/holidays, 9:45 a.m.-6:30 p.m.) links the museum, Hongqiao Park, and Guangmingcheng Station. Visitor tips The 3rd and 4th floors feature many immersive activities popular on weekends and holidays, so expect queues. The 1st floor hosts an AI robot restaurant and a paid tech film area, plus several food vendors. The 3rd floor includes a robot-operated coffee shop. |
