China’s largest photovoltaic + LNG dual-fuel car carrier begins service
    2025-05-16  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The Yuan Hai Kou, China’s largest photovoltaic energy + LNG dual-fuel car carrier, berths at Nansha in Guangzhou on Thursday. Loaded with nearly 4,000 vehicles produced by Chinese auto makers such as BYD and Geely, over 90% of which are new-energy vehicles, the ship set off Thursday on its maiden voyage to countries including Greece, Turkey, Italy, and Tunisia. Measuring 199.9 meters in length and boasting a gross tonnage of 68,252 tons, the vessel has a loading capacity of 7,000 standard car spaces and can carry all types of vehicles. Compared with traditional single-fuel car carriers, it can save about 20% of energy consumption. The ship is also equipped with a photovoltaic power generation system that can generate 410,000 kWh of electricity per year. In the first four months of this year, China’s auto production and sales exceeded 10 million units each for the first time, among which new-energy vehicle exports surpassed 640,000 units.China News Service
