Getting to know Metro devices for emergencies
    2025-05-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

LET’S take a look at some emergency devices available on Shenzhen Metro trains and stations.

These devices are usually accompanied by bilingual Chinese-English instructions and safety codes displayed on an eye-catching red background. Please do not use these devices in non-emergency situations; unauthorized use may result in legal consequences.

Emergency intercom (列车紧急通话器): Passengers can instantly contact Metro staff in case of an emergency on trains. Simply open the small cover, press the button, and speak.

Emergency egress device (车门紧急解锁装置): Located beside train doors, this device allows emergency unlocking of the doors. Before using it, you must contact Metro staff via the emergency intercom. Using the egress device without permission during the train operation and interval stop is subject to legal penalties.

Emergency stop button (紧急停梯/停车按钮): Emergency stop buttons are installed at every escalator to immediately halt it in case of emergency. Similar buttons are also located on Metro platforms and concourses to stop trains when needed.

Additionally, fire alarm buttons are installed throughout Metro stations. There are 1,074 AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) placed across stations, ensuring accessibility within 3 minutes. Metro staff receive regular first-aid training, and at least two staff members per shift at each station hold valid first-aid certifications.
