Dragon boat race brings joy and tradition
    2025-05-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Members of the Globe Trotters team paddle in sync during the Shekou Dragon Boat Race on the Houhai Zhongxin River in Shekou on Saturday. The Globe Trotters team, which comprised expat residents from 10 countries, secured third place. Organized by the Shekou Management and Service Center for Expats, the race was held to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival that falls on May 31 this year. It attracted 40 teams to participate. The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as the Duanwu Festival, is a traditional Chinese holiday celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. It is rich in cultural significance and features a variety of unique traditions, including dragon boat racing and eating zongzi — glutinous rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves.  Wei Jie
