Smart tourist drone photography takes off
    2025-05-27  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Editor’s note:

Shenzhen is composed of nine administrative districts, one new area, and the Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone in Shanwei. While all 11 areas share Shenzhen’s defining spirit of innovation, each has its own unique characteristics. This page focuses on the latest developments in Yantian District, a dynamic area renowned for the vibrant Yantian Port, one of the world’s busiest container terminals. The district is also famous for scenic coastal areas like Dameisha Beach and Xiaomeisha Beach, making it a popular tourist destination.

IN a futuristic scene straight out of a sci-fi film, a quick scan of a QR code sends a drone soaring into the air. Instantly, the drone transforms into a personal aerial photographer, tracking and capturing stunning shots of tourists framed by both mountains and sea.

This innovative experience recently unfolded at Yunhai Plaza in Yantian District — a destination now fondly dubbed the Shenzhen version of “Castle in the Sky.”

At the heart of this breakthrough is the Sheng · Lotus Drone system developed by Shenzhen-based i-KINGTEC Co. Ltd. Named for its lotus-like appearance, the autonomous drone docking station occupies just 0.25 square meters while delivering powerful functionality.

It supports automatic takeoff and landing, battery and payload swaps, flight path planning, and even autonomous generation of inspection reports. This cutting-edge technology is turning traditional tourist snapshots into a high-tech, immersive experience. (Liu Yangyang)
