Alex Kalandia ON May 23, I got a unique opportunity to visit the 21st China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) with a group of friends at the invitation of EyeShenzhen. I had a wonderful time exploring new projects that represent the development and cultural diversity of Luohu and Bao’an districts. We discussed various topics and business models with many talented entrepreneurs. We also tested some innovative products, such as AI-powered glasses that allow users to see the translation of a partner’s speech on the lens. It’s fascinating as they successfully operate with support for 13 languages. I witnessed a ring that can measure the diameter of a finger and automatically adjust to fit, as if it’s a universal gadget for all people in the room. We also met a local producer whose studio makes cartoons for many countries around the world. His characters teach children kindness, happiness, and creativity. The Huafa Ice and Snow World booth was the most memorable for me because we managed to play with snowballs in tropical Shenzhen — what a miracle! The organizer welcomed us to attend the grand opening of the winter sports facility and ride the slopes for free. We also found contemporary art by young artists from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) on the second floor of the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center. There, we shared our own impressions and cultures by drawing on a graffiti wall. Another standout worth mentioning is the Shenzhen News Group (SNG) pavilion. There, we made AI-generated portraits of ourselves in real-time and became part of a big, futuristic image of Shenzhen. In conclusion, I’m glad that I dedicated my weekend to this event and look forward to joining more activities with EyeShenzhen and the Z10 Club. |
