The world’s first self-propelled deep-sea aquaculture vessel equipped with a pollution-free seawater exchange system was launched Tuesday in Jiangmen, Guangdong Province, marking the beginning of a new era in technological ocean ranching. Energy-efficient and environmentally friendly, the vessel serves as both a fishery and a tourist destination. Named Bay Area Lingding, the vessel boasts an aquaculture space of nearly 80,000 cubic meters — equivalent to the size of 32 standard swimming pools — providing ample room for fish to thrive and ensuring better-quality meat, according to China’s State television Tuesday. The vessel is expected to produce 5,000 tons of fish annually, enhancing the seafood supply for residents in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. CCTV |
