Giant wind turbine blades are seen at the offshore wind power base in Shidao Management Zone, Rongcheng, Shandong Province, on Monday, waiting to be installed. Last year, China surged ahead in renewable energy development, installing more wind and solar power capacity than ever before, outpacing all other countries by a wide margin. According to China’s National Energy Administration, the nation added 357 gigawatts of solar and wind power — an increase of 45% and 18%, respectively, compared to the end of 2023. These installations allowed China to reach its renewable energy target of 1,200 gigawatts six years ahead of schedule, well before the 2030 goal. China News Service |
