Explore family-friendly green spaces beyond the city center
    2025-06-23  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

KNOWN as the “city of parks,” Shenzhen offers a rich variety of green spaces that cater to its residents’ diverse needs, ranging from urban plazas to cozy pocket parks. Among these, the development of children’s parks stands out as a vital part of Shenzhen’s strategy to create a family-friendly urban environment. While the children’s parks in Shenzhen’s central districts receive much attention, several newer parks located in more remote areas are equally engaging and worth a visit.

Here are four notable children’s parks outside the city center that provide fun and exciting experiences for families:

Guanlan Central Park 观澜中心公园

Guanlan Central Park combines a whimsical tall blue castle, charming yellow houses, and non-powered playground equipment with a soccer field, winding streams, broad lawns, and a scenic hilltop corridor. The children’s playground is especially popular, offering a sandpit, trampolines, slides, spinning discs, and various other play options designed for kids of all ages. This park is ideal for a full day of family fun.

Metro: Line 4 to Qinghu Station (清湖站), Exit B2, then transfer to Guanlan High-tech Park Stop (观澜高新园站) by tram

Kuichong Ecological Park 葵涌生态公园

Covering 33,000 square meters, Kuichong Ecological Park’s first phase features recreational areas on both sides of the Kuichong River. This lush green park includes a children’s playground and a stream exploration zone. The playground is structured into distinct areas: a physical exercise zone, terrain exploration spots, and a play section with a large trampoline, climbing nets of varied difficulty, spinning discs, and a vast sandpit. Younger children can enjoy slides and swings in a smaller adjacent area across the river — enough to keep them entertained all afternoon.

Buses: Routes No. 818, 833, and M426 to Kuichong Ecological Park Station (葵涌生态公园站)

Pengfei Park 鹏飞公园

Pengfei Park on the scenic Dapeng Peninsula is a spacious complex divided into multiple sections. Its highlight is a grand castle-themed playground, featuring a suspension bridge and four large slides. The star attraction is a slide over 100 meters long, soaring up to the height of a three-story building. This exhilarating slide challenges older kids and even some adults, making it a perfect spot for a thrilling family outing.

Transportation: Recommended to visit by car. Navigate to “时光海公园” to reach the park.

Planet 10 Playground 10号星球乐园

Located in Shenzhen North Railway Station Central Park in Longhua District, Planet 10 Playground offers a unique outer space-themed play environment. Its eye-catching giant slide and planet-shaped equipment make it a favorite among children. The park’s design immerses visitors in a colorful cosmic landscape, where different planets connect various play structures, sparking imagination and adventure.

Metro: Line 4, 5, or 6 to Shenzhen North Station (深圳北站), Exit A
