Chris Young FOUR students from Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU) secured second place at the ABB RoboCup 2025, held recently in Bergamo, Italy. The event kicked off with more than 850 students from 58 Italian schools, along with international teams from France, Spain, India, and China, participating in the early rounds of the competition. Through a series of qualifying challenges, these students demonstrated their knowledge and skills in robotics, simulation, and automation. A total of 250 finalists advanced to the live finale round in Bergamo. There, students tackled real-world tasks using ABB robots, RobotStudio simulations, and theory-based quizzes — showcasing not only technical excellence but also teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking. The four Chinese students from SZPU’s School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and the School of Undergraduate Education, mentored by Professors Zhao Wei and Yang Min, overcame challenges such as time zone differences and language barriers to finish second. The championship was awarded to the host nation, Italy. The competition, hosted by the global industrial automation leader ABB Group, focuses on intelligent industrial robot applications. It provides students with hands-on experience in robotics and fosters synergy between industry and higher education institutions. |
