Three SMBU students, Koleda Darya, Pakhalovich Antonii, and Sizov Grigorii, partnered with Shenzhen Polytechnic University’s School of Automotive and Transportation Engineering to win gold in the automobile fault check and repair category (international group) at the 2024 World Vocational College Skills Competition.

Formerly known as the National Vocational College Skills Competition, this event is led by the Ministry of Education and co-hosted by key national ministries and organizations, recognized for its prestige and international influence.

Student honored in national English contest

At the 2025 National English Competition for College Students (Guangdong Regional Finals), Li Shuyuan, an undergraduate majoring in electronic and computer engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, won the national special prize in the non-English major category.

The Guangdong regional contest attracted participants from 55 universities, with 22,501 contestants in this category. The special prize is awarded to only one in every thousand finalists, emphasizing the exceptional quality of this accomplishment.

Student publishes paper in top journal

Jin Yongheng, a postgraduate student in the joint master’s program between Beijing Institute of Technology and SMBU, published a first-author research paper in the top journal Advanced Materials, with SMBU listed as the first affiliation.

The paper, titled “Conductance Reinforced Relaxation Attenuation With Strong Metal-N Coordination in Multivariate π-Conjugated MOFs for Integrated Radar-Infrared Camouflage,” was supervised by Associate Professor Cheng Junye from SMBU’s Faculty of Materials Science. Co-researchers include undergraduates Jiang Shan, Zou Xingjian, Guo Junjie, Ren Zhengyang from the faculty, and the joint master’s program’s student Chen Qingkui and doctoral student Zhang Zhaosong.

The study presents a full-process technical approach from molecular design to macroscopic device fabrication, offering a reference for next-generation high-performance radar/infrared dual-spectrum compatible stealth devices. It also provides theoretical support for expanding MOF materials’ multifunctional stealth applications.

Philology students shine at Russian speech contest

Faculty of Philology student Zhang Jitong claimed the first prize with the highest score at the 2025 “Russian Language Day” and “Celebrate China-Russia Years of Culture” Russian Speech Contest, co-hosted by the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Guangzhou and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies.
