EXCITING news for local fishing enthusiasts! Since June, fishing has now been officially allowed in select parks across the city! Shenzhen has designated a variety of fishing spots in urban parks, rivers, coastlines, as well as scenic areas and farm ponds, offering more options for outdoor fishing adventures. So get your fishing gear ready and head out to enjoy an elevated fishing experience. Honghu Park 洪湖公园 The fishing zone in Honghu Park is located on the west side of the Honghu Lake. With its wide water surface and an open view, it’s an ideal spot. Here anglers are seen sitting calmly by the lakeside patiently waiting for a bite — truly one of the best ways to find peace of mind. Although only tilapias have been reportedly caught here, the beautiful scenery makes up for it. After all, fishing is as much about the experience as the catch itself. Opening hours: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.; no reservation required Metro: Line 7 to Honghu Station (洪湖站), Exit A, cross the footbridge and walk for about 300 meters Donghu Park 东湖公园 The fishing area of Donghu Park is designated around the west island of the artificial lake, and it’s fairly spacious. While the scenery here may not be as good as that of Honghu Park, its proximity to Wutong Mountain to the east, and Shenzhen Reservoir to the north offers a unique jungle-like experience. In addition, the park features a paid fishing zone on the east side of the lake called Fishing Paradise. Revamped from the original fishing ground, Fishing Paradise reopened during the May Day holiday. According to its official WeChat account, the fishing zone has more than 2000 kilograms of newly stocked fish, including some relatively large fish. Please note that fish caught at the Finishing Paradise cannot be taken home, or refunded. The area is designed for recreational fishing enjoyment. Opening hours: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.; no reservation required Metro: Line 5 to Yijing Station (怡景站), Exit D, and walk to West Entrance No. 2 Other fishing spots According to official information, each district has up to three designated fishing spots. Examples include the Lychee Park and Bijia Hill Park in Futian District, Guanlan River in Longhua District, Maozhou River and the OCT Farm fishing area in Guangming District, and Sea Countryside Lure Fishing Theme Park in Bao’an District. Sea fishing Experienced anglers in the city can also enjoy sea fishing at Dapeng Peninsula in Dapeng New Area, where a wide variety of fishes such as sea breams, groupers and sea bass can be found.(Claudia Wei) |
