LIGHT installations reminiscent of a fairytale illuminated the Baoneng All City mall on Friday night, marking the launch of Shekou’s vibrant GoGo Summer Shopping Season. Residents were treated to an impressive “Fish-themed Opening Show,” where seafood masters from a local Shekou restaurant expertly carved a 500-kilogram bluefin tuna.

The grand opening event was attended by officials from the Nanshan District Government, the Shekou and Zhaoshang subdistrict offices, representatives of Shekou’s business community, as well as local and expat residents. Together, they celebrated the beginning of Shekou’s summer shopping extravaganza.

Friday’s event also featured the debut of the “Shekou GoGo Shopping Map,” which highlights four exciting themed routes focused on family fun, shopping, night tours, and wellness. Running through September, Shekou’s five shopping centers will jointly offer an array of gifts, surprise discounts, and combined online and in-person promotions. More than 200 merchants are participating.

Ma Ming, head of the Shekou Subdistrict Office, highlighted in his speech that by leveraging the geographic advantages of the Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint and the Shekou Cruise Home Port, along with convenient border-crossing visa exemptions and departure tax refunds policies, Shekou has become a popular destination for visitors seeking dining, accommodation, shopping, and leisure experiences.

From now through Aug. 3, 17 themed events will take place, including traditional opera shows and intangible cultural heritage demonstrations such as Song Dynasty-era tea art.

To encourage visitors to explore the area, the “One Shekou” platform has launched a rewards program where participants can collect stamps at designated locations throughout Shekou for exclusive benefits.
