Editor’s note: Shenzhen is composed of nine administrative districts, one new area, and the Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone in Shanwei. While all 11 areas share Shenzhen’s defining spirit of innovation, each has its own unique characteristics. This page delves into the latest advancements in Pingshan District, a vibrant area in northeastern Shenzhen. An emerging hub for various industries, Pingshan stands out not only for its economic vitality but also for its rich cultural heritage and vast green spaces, making it an appealing destination for entrepreneurs and tourists alike. THE Shenzhen Pingshan Medical and Health Data Alliance, which aims to build a comprehensive medical and healthcare data ecosystem platform and enhance collaborative research, was recently launched. The alliance will also establish internal data governance mechanisms to promote high-quality development within Pingshan’s health and medical sectors. Among its 26 founding members are leading biotech companies, such as Shenzhen New Industries Biomedical Engineering Co. Ltd. (Snibe), Edan Instruments Inc., Shenzhen Haibin Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd., and Dakewe Biotech Co. Ltd. In addition, AI innovation enterprises, data governance organizations, and research institutions are also part of this coalition, which covers the entire medical data chain in Pingshan — from data production and provision to utilization and data governance services. At the alliance’s launch conference, the Pingshan District Catalog of Clinically Applied Specialty Drugs and Medical Devices (First Batch) was unveiled. It comprises 46 medical and pharmaceutical items, including two vaccine products from Sanofi and 44 high-end medical devices from companies such as Snibe, Edan, Würzburg Dynamics, and WYTD Medical Technology (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. The products span categories such as in-vitro diagnostics (IVD), implantable interventional therapies, surgical robots, life monitoring and support, maternal and child health, ultrasound diagnostics, endoscopy, and rehabilitation therapy. Notably, this is the first district-level catalog of its kind in China. It aims to accelerate the clinical application of high-quality, cost-effective pharmaceutical products and medical devices, fostering a virtuous cycle of “clinical needs — industrial innovation — medical services” and supporting the robust growth of Pingshan’s biopharmaceutical industry. The conference was held at the Greater Bay Area International Vaccine Innovation Center in Pingshan. It attracted representatives from seven medical and health institutions and more than 40 biotechnology companies, data governance organizations, and research institutes in the district. A medical-enterprise matchmaking session during the conference focused on surgical robots and implantable interventional therapies, providing companies such as Würzburg Dynamics and WYTD with a platform to collaborate with research institutes and medical institutions on the development and commercialization of high-end medical devices.
