WAIC showcases China’s tech prowess
    2025-07-28  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC 2025), featuring an exhibition area exceeding 70,000 square meters, kicked off in Shanghai on Saturday.

Under the theme “Global Solidarity in the AI Era,” the annual three-day conference has attracted over 800 Chinese and international exhibitors, showcasing more than 3,000 exhibits — a record high. Highlights include 40 large language models (LLMs), 50 AI-powered devices, and 60 intelligent robots, according to the organizer. Also, exhibitors are unveiling 100 debut products.

Notable exhibits include Siemens’ industrial copilot AI assistant, the Tesla Bot, and Unitree Robotics’ boxing robot. Visitors can also experience a variety of AI innovations such as AI pets, AI glasses, AI computers, and multilingual transparent AI screens.

While only 18 robotics companies participated in the previous edition, WAIC 2025 has attracted over 80 companies specializing in embodied intelligence. These include Shanghai-based AgiBot, the National and Local Co-Built Humanoid Robotics Innovation Center, Hangzhou-based Unitree Robotics and DeepRobotics.

Envisioning AI application scenarios, the organizer has created an AI-powered city block — complete with an art workshop, a repair shop, and a snack street — populated by robots. These robots perform high-precision tasks such as drumming, calligraphy, cooking skewers, and peeling eggs.

The event serves not only as a showcase for cutting-edge technologies but also as a platform for global collaboration and academic exchange in the AI field.
