Tony Li, G10 李东鸿 I recently attended Charlie Puth’s concert at the Universiade Sports Center in Longgang District. On July 6, the American pop sensation brought his “Something New II” tour to town. Known for his smooth vocals and polished pop production, Puth is famous for hits like “Attention,” “We Don’t Talk Anymore,” and “One Call Away.” The “Something New II” tour showcases Puth’s latest work alongside his chart-topping classics. The singer has made a name for himself in the pop music scene by blending catchy melodies with heartfelt lyrics. His collaborations with other artists and viral social media presence have further broadened his appeal. Local fans were excited about his return to China, and I felt lucky to be able to book seats at the show. As expected, the concert attracted huge crowds. My sister and I set out an hour early to beat the traffic, but we struggled to find a place to eat because every nearby restaurant was packed. Eventually, we settled for dinner at McDonald’s. We arrived at our seats early, and the open-air stadium was incredibly hot. With no ceiling and no air conditioning inside the venue, the hot air circulated constantly. Most of the audience, including myself, was sweating. Despite the heat, the performance was fantastic and filled with energy. Puth performed many familiar songs, and I felt truly excited and emotional when the audience sang along. Songs like “See You Again” and “Attention” were especially memorable. The experience of thousands of people singing in unison was absolutely electrifying. It felt as if we were harmonizing for him, all part of one big show. By the end of the concert, I felt exhausted but happy and fulfilled. However, getting home proved challenging. The streets were crowded, and some areas were restricted for safety reasons, creating quite a chaotic scene. Thankfully, my mom had booked a taxi an hour before the concert ended, allowing us to get home safely amid the crowd. It was an unforgettable night filled with great music, enthusiasm, and a shared connection between Puth and us fans. |
