Shenzhen is composed of nine administrative districts, one new area, and the Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone in Shanwei. THE China (Shenzhen)–Mexico Technological Cooperation Seminar took place at the China Resources Building in Nanshan District on July 15.

The event was jointly hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shenzhen Municipal Committee (CCPIT Shenzhen), the Shenzhen International Chamber of Commerce, and the China Chamber of Commerce and Technology Mexico.

Prominent figures including Yang Haobo, a second-level inspector of the CCPIT Shenzhen, and Li Zhina, the deputy district mayor of Nanshan District, attended the seminar.

Carlos Giménez, economic promotion consul at the Consulate General of Mexico in Guangzhou, highlighted the strong potential for cooperation between Mexico and Shenzhen. He pointed out that Mexico, as a key hub in the North American supply chain, has industries that are highly complementary to those in Shenzhen.

The city of Nuevo Laredo in Mexico plays a crucial role, handling 40% of Mexico’s cross-border freight annually, offering efficient customs clearance services that benefit Chinese enterprises. The representative from the Nuevo Laredo City Government also shared the local investment advantages, further attracting the attention of Shenzhen businesses.

Nanshan itself boasts impressive technological strength, particularly in industrial clusters covering software and information service and artificial intelligence. In her speech, Li introduced the “Go Global” Global Service Center established in the district.

The center provides 12 categories of professional support for enterprises looking to go global, including legal, financial, and talent services. It has already built close connections with multiple emerging markets, including Mexico. As a key international service platform, the global service center has organized five Latin American special events since its establishment.

The seminar marked another significant step for Nanshan in deepening Belt and Road cooperation and seizing the opportunities brought by BRICS. It aimed to facilitate cooperation and exchanges between Shenzhen enterprises and Mexican counterparts, helping them understand the local market and the relevant policies and regulations for going global.(Zhang Yu)
