Hyperspectral camera

A RESEARCH team from Westlake University recently developed China’s first hyperspectral camera based on snapshot compressive imaging technology, according to the Science and Technology Daily.

The camera, created by Westlake Intelligent Vision Technology (Hangzhou) Co. Ltd — a startup incubated by the university — marks a major step in intelligent imaging systems by integrating advanced optical hardware with intelligent algorithms.

The camera can detect early signs of crop diseases and locate toxin accumulation in farmlands, identify algae blooms and pollution in water, and be used in industrial quality control, medical research, and power line inspection.

Robot consumer festival

BEIJING on Saturday kicked off the world’s first robot consumer festival, the E Town Robotics Consumer Festival, as the advancements in robotics are fostering diverse consumption scenarios in China.

Running through Aug. 17, the festival will take place simultaneously across six areas, including the Beijing Etrong International Exhibition & Convention Center, the Beijing World of Robots, the robotics industrial park in Beijing’s E-Town, and other nearby business districts. Consumers can enjoy subsidies of up to 1,500 yuan (US$210), while companies can receive subsidies of up to 250,000 yuan on their purchases.
