Guangming unveils National Games venues
    2025-08-06  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AS the 15th National Games approach this November, Guangming District is stepping into the spotlight with the unveiling of several world-class sports venues. Nestled among lush hills and winding rivers, these facilities are not only primed for top-tier national competitions but are also set to become vibrant hubs for everyday sports and recreation in the district.

The National Games, co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, will feature three major events in Guangming. The competitions in soccer (Men’s U18, Men’s U20), equestrian (Eventing, Dressage, Show Jumping), and cycling (Freestyle BMX, Racing BMX) span seven subcategories and 12 disciplines, with 12 gold medals up for grabs.

Guangming Intl. Equestrian Center

Spanning 50,000 square meters, this architecturally striking complex features China’s largest wooden-structure sports facility. Its unique design blends traditional Chinese sloped roof aesthetics with modern engineering. The steel-wood hybrid structure boasts a 66-meter beam span and includes a main competition arena, indoor and outdoor training grounds, stables, living quarters, and support facilities. The venue will host Dressage and Show Jumping events.

Science Park Equestrian Cross-Country Course

Located in the southern wing of Guangming Science Park, this 4.6 km natural terrain course is designed for the Eventing segment. With water jumps, natural obstacles, and temporary support facilities, it blends seamlessly into the landscape, offering both challenge and charm.

Freestyle BMX venue in Hongqiao Park

At 9,860 square meters, this facility certified by UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) was built to global standards. It will host Freestyle BMX, featuring acrobatic tricks and high-flying performances.

Racing BMX venue

Covering 17,000 square meters, this course includes a 10-meter-wide start ramp, technical doubles, berms, and high-speed corners. Built to UCI standards, it will host the Racing BMX events.

Shenzhen Youth Soccer Training Base

This 197,000-square-meter complex includes FIFA quality pro-certified artificial turf fields and natural grass pitches that meet international competition standards. It recently hosted the AFC U20 Asian Cup in February. Facilities include a central stadium, athlete training and support center, soccer park, and services ranging from sports science to athlete education. It will host Men’s U18 and U20 matches.

Beyond the Games, these venues are designed for lasting community impact. From professional training to weekend recreation, they are poised to become enduring landmarks of sports culture in Guangming.

With a summer carnival now in full swing, offering exciting lifestyle experiences in dining, entertainment, and hospitality, Guangming is buzzing with energy as it prepares to welcome athletes, fans, and visitors from across the nation.
