Rescue efforts continue after torrential rainstorm hits GD
    2025-08-08  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

HEAVY rains have battered Guangdong Province for days, triggering widespread flooding and a serious landslide in Guangzhou. Cities including Guangzhou, Dongguan, Huizhou, and Shanwei are among the hardest hit.

Two people were killed and seven were injured in the rain-induced landslide at the Huangzhuang area of Baiyun District in Guangzhou on Wednesday. Five are still missing as of Thursday.

In response to the disaster, China’s top economic planner allocated 100 million yuan (US$14 million) to support emergency recovery. A Level-IV national emergency response has been activated.  (SD Xinhua)
