


THE Shenzhen Art Museum’s Longhua division is currently hosting four remarkable exhibitions that showcase a rich blend of historical legacy, contemporary creativity, and cross-cultural dialogue in art and design. Wu Guanzhong: ‘I Owe My Life to Art’ Dates: Until Sept. 7 This poignant exhibition traces the artistic journey of Wu Guanzhong, one of China’s most influential modern painters, through 62 selected works. Named after Wu’s autobiography, “I Owe My Life to Art,” the exhibition invites visitors to experience his unique synthesis of Eastern imagery and abstract elements in oil and traditional Chinese painting. With Wu’s own words as a narrative thread, the exhibition offers an intimate encounter with his lifelong pursuit of bridging Western and Chinese art traditions, revealing the warmth and depth that mark his luminous artistic legacy. ‘Art Direction Japan’ Dates: Until Oct. 12 This exhibition presents more than 200 works by over 90 Tokyo Art Directors Club (ADC) members and 40 award nominees and winners. Founded in 1952, Tokyo ADC is a prestigious institution at the forefront of Japanese and global design, consistently pioneering innovative visual expressions balancing art and commerce. Visitors can explore ADC’s aesthetic evolution via historical annual anthologies, recent 2024 award-winning projects, the acclaimed solo work “STUDY” by Tomohiro Okazaki featuring frame-by-frame animation of matchsticks, and an extensive showcase of member works that underline their industry impact. Dai Ze’s trans-century perspective” Dates: Until Nov. 9 A pioneer of modern Chinese art education, Dai Ze’s artistic career spans critical moments in China’s modern art history. The comprehensive exhibition, “I Come With the Trend: Dai Ze’s Trans-Century Perspective,” explores the dynamic dialogue between collective history and individual awakening through over 80 years of Dai’s artistic practice. Divided into five thematic chapters, the exhibition highlights Dai’s realist masterpieces reflecting societal changes and historical events, while also showcasing his continuous exploration beyond collective narratives. It further reveals his sensitive depictions of flora, fauna, and landscapes, embodying a patriotic spirit. Huang Binhong’s artistic odyssey Dates: Until Dec. 7 “Huang Binhong’s Artistic Odyssey Through Streams and Mountains” features nearly 200 important works and documents, including landscapes, calligraphy couplets, letters, drafts, and seals by Huang Binhong, a master of modern Chinese landscape painting. Following Huang’s artistic evolution, the exhibition weaves a narrative connecting his travels, artistic insights, and cultural reflections. Special emphasis is placed on regional ties to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, underscoring a meaningful cultural dialogue and legacy.
