





TYPHOON Podul, classified as a severe tropical storm, made its second landfall early Thursday along the coast of Zhangpu County in East China’s Fujian Province, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. The storm came ashore around 12:30 a.m. with maximum sustained winds reaching 30 meters per second (about 108 kilometers per hour), according to the Fujian provincial meteorological observatory. Podul first made landfall Wednesday afternoon in Taitung County in Taiwan at approximately 1:10 p.m., before sweeping across the Taiwan Strait and striking the Chinese mainland. (SD News) |
