FOR the first time in its history, the 20th Overseas Returnees Career Fair (Autumn) will include job openings specifically aimed at international students who have studied in China, organizers said at a press conference yesterday.
The fair will be held Sept. 21 in Hall 5 of the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District and will feature more than 5,000 positions offered by over 150 employers from around the world.
Organizers said they have already received a large number of resumes, with about 87% of applicants holding or about to receive a master’s degree or higher. Recruitment of additional companies and jobseekers is ongoing.
Participating firms span sectors such as the internet, technology, finance, biomedicine, and cross-border commerce. Confirmed employers include Tencent, Decathlon, Walmart (China), New Zealand-based ZURU Group, China Southern Power Grid, and Shenzhen Airport Group.
Innovation startups will also participate, including London-based consumer electronics company Nothing, said Tang Anli, secretary-general of the Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Returnees Association.
Tang said positions intended for international students will mainly come from tech firms and companies expanding overseas.
Yang Peng, president of the association, said that as more Chinese companies go global, they are increasingly seeking employees who understand both international markets and China.
He noted that demand is particularly strong for staff familiar with Belt and Road markets such as Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
The fair will also host a career development forum for overseas returnees, offering seminars and networking opportunities with recruiters and industry representatives.
