SHENZHEN is expected to see thunderstorms and strong winds next week as two developing typhoons influence the city, the local weather forecast said. Typhoon Lingling — the 12th of this year — formed Thursday morning. Its center was located about 125 kilometers west‑northwest of Japan’s Kagoshima Prefecture and is forecast to move east‑southeastward with little change in strength. Further out, Typhoon Kajiki is taking shape and could potentially make landfall along the southern coast of China next week. Although long‑range uncertainty remains high, residents are urged to stay alert and follow official updates. Shenzhen is forecast to receive heavy-to-torrential rain from next Tuesday through Thursday. The Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory warned that from late August through mid‑September, conditions will be favorable for the development of tropical cyclones and enhanced monsoon activity. Two pronounced rainfall episodes are likely during that period — one at the end of this month and another in mid‑September — each able to produce heavy-to-torrential rain, thunderstorms, and short‑lived gales.
